May I Tempt You? — James 1:12–18

In the second message of our series, Building a Healthy Christian Community, James helps us understand the difference between trials and temptation.

While trials can strengthen our faith and develop perseverance, temptation seeks to draw us away from God. James makes it clear that God does not tempt us. Temptation grows from our own misplaced desires which, when followed, lead to sin and death.

In contrast, every good and perfect gift comes from our faithful and unchanging God. This passage challenges us to recognise the path of temptation, take responsibility for our choices and trust in God’s goodness as we seek to live faithfully.
